I have a lot going on in my life. I'm a mother of two boys. Not babies. My first is nineteen. He's getting ready to go out into the great big world. I could write about my feelings on that topic. My younger son is twelve. He's always been of much excitement in my family. A bit short fused. Highly focused on what he wants. Smart but lazy. There's a lot of material to write about there.
I'm also a wife in an interracial marriage. I love my man so much. But when you here the tern "opposites attract," they were definitely thinking about us. About the only things we have in common are we moved a lot as kids (though he stayed in the same town), we both retired from the Air Force (me, from the Reserves, he, from the Hawaii Air National Guard) and cars. That's what makes us work I guess.
I teach high school. OMG, now there's absolutely a lot to talk about there. I teach because I want to make a difference. I teach because I get to be creative. I teach because kids are entertaining, like a dramatic comedy. I'm not going to lie and say that the breaks are great. But, I will tell you that they are necessary. I love teaching.
I also participate in Roller Derby. It's an obsession. It saved my life. I was suffering from pretty severe asthma. It was horrible. My self esteem can always be worked on. I'm forty one and started anew athletic venture. It is not my first. I've been active off and on throughout my adult life. But there is something amazing about roller derby. I feel strong, agile and for the first time I like hanging out with a team. Ok... That's a lie. This is the second time.
The most important aspect of my life is what saved my soul. I am a Jesus Freak. A Christian. A Holy Roller, I you will. I'm not one to jam it down and force feed it to you. I really do try to live like Jesus. Love Jesus. Love others. Love myself.
I think I'll write about it all. Whatever comes to mind. Let's see where this goes.
